Lydian
Lydian can seem like a strange mode if you're not familiar with it. It does not have a natural perfect fourth; instead, it's augmented, which makes for a unique sound. Vai and Satch are the masters of this mode. It most closely identifies with ionian, yet it has a much different sound.
